Christ Lutheran’s Response to Hurricane Harvey

Christ Lutheran Church and Education Center is providing financial support for hurricane relief through the church benevolence fund, thus far we have committed $2,000. Since many of our members have inquired how they may give, we suggest giving through the LCMS as detailed below:

At least 161 LCMS congregations are in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey and the floods. The Synod stands with those in need through prayer and support.

“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all” (2 COR. 5:14). The love of Christ compels us to love everyone. Love flows from the cross in service to those in need, just as Christ came in the flesh to save. You can help those suffering from the effects of the storm and the floodwaters.
LCMS World Relief and Human Care, through Disaster Response, is working with the Texas District to support relief efforts and to aid those in need.

To Give:

  • Online – Visit the LCMS website
  • By Text – Text  “LCMSHARVEY”  to 41444
  • Over the phone – Call the LCMS toll-free gift line between 8am and 4:10pm Central time at 888.930.4438 or the LCMS Church Information Center at 888.843.5267
  • By Mail – Make checks payable to “The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod” (or “LCMS”). On the memo line, write “Disaster Response/Relief”, and mail to the LCMS P.O. Box 66861, St. Louis, MO 63166-6861. Gifts also can be designated specifically for Hurricane Harvey and/or affected areas by stipulating in the memo line.
Gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Additional information about our LCMS response, and the impact your gifts are having, will be available over the weeks and months ahead at, on the Synod’s social media outlets, and in our official periodicals and publications.

Together In Christ That Others May Know Christ

Christ Lutheran Church and Education Center is a mission strong Christian community where God transforms lives through Word and Sacrament, growing His kingdom. We engage people in loving God and others through worship, prayer, study, service and care. We will remain committed to our mission so that those served within our walls take the Gospel of Jesus Christ outside the walls to family, friends, and neighbors, with special concern for the lost, the least and the lonely of this world.

Core Value:

Commitment to Care and Service
As we are connected within our walls, we are committed to those beyond our walls, both locally and internationally. We are called to reach out to people who do not know Christ, to be a servant to those in need, and to support ministries that share our passion. We hold steadfast the ideal of caring for others, from conception to natural death, as we communicate God’s presence to each precious soul.

Please Pray…

Lord of heaven and earth, we know that You hold all things in Your hands. In Your mercy, provide for the needs of those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey and the rain that continues to fall, work through those who bring relief and aid, and protect all from any further harm. Draw all to the cross of Christ, who is our salvation now and always. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
