Provide a Meal - TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

MEAL SERVICE HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED TO THE PUBLIC HOWEVER THE MISSION IS STILL ACCEPTING MEAL DROP-OFF DONATIONS FOR MEALS PREPARED BY PROFESSIONAL FOOD SERVICE COMPANIES (restaurants).

The Mission welcomes outside groups to underwrite meals. You can do this by either paying for and serving the meal (Share-A-Meal); or preparing, bringing and serving the meal (Bring & Serve).

We do not have meal server ONLY volunteer opportunities. This is done by men and women in the long-term recovery programs for their work therapy assignments, unless a group underwrites the meal.

NEW - Car Ministry Program

City Union Mission’s Car Ministry Program provides reliable cars to graduates of the Mission’s many programs.  Qualified candidates will receive a dependable car and assistance maintaining that car for a year, provided recipients continue to live by program guidelines.

Car donations made by individuals and businesses provide the majority of the vehicles distributed by the Car Ministry Program. In addition, the Mission also purchases cars with designated financial donations.

Please consider donating a used car in good working condition or funds to purchase cars for the Car Ministry Program. Each car donated is an opportunity to give a struggling neighbor the chance at a new life.

For a vehicle to be eligible for donation:

1.  The car must be in good working condition.
2.  It must have clear title and a lien release (when necessary).
3.  All the owners’ names on the title must be signed on the reverse of the title authorizing transfer of ownership, at the time of donation.

You will receive a bill of sale and the form you need for tax filing purposes.

If the vehicle is located in the Kansas City metropolitan area, we can even pick it up and complete the paperwork on the spot.

To make a donation or to learn more about the Mission’s Car Ministry Program and other comprehensive programs for the homeless and hurting, contact City Union Mission at (816) 841-6171.

Most graduates don’t have the financial ability to purchase their own vehicle and this is our way of setting them up for success once they leave the Mission. Click here to see some of the program graduates who were blessed with new cars.
